In 1974, Garden State Underground Plant Location Service (GSUPLS) was created by New Jersey Utilities as a voluntary organization of operators of underground facilities. In October, 1994 the Underground Facility Protection Act was signed into law and the NJ Board of Public Utilities (BPU) was designated as the agency charged with overseeing and enforcing compliance with the "One Call Law." All operators of underground facilities are required by law to participate in and comply with the requirements of the One-Call Prevention System. As of November 1999, The BPU designated One Call Systems, Inc., as the operator of the One-Call Damage Prevention System.

One Call Systems has produced a new ticketing tool for use by excavators called ONTRY (ONline Ticket EntRY). This new product replaces the traditional Email-A-Locate with the convenience and usability of a web based interface. Once an excavator is registered with this new site, they will use their assigned username and password to login. The user can then enter specific information required to complete the locate request by utilizing easy-to-operate drop-down menus. The website has internal controls to ensure that the information you enter is accurate and complete. ONTRY is currently limited to routine locate tickets. |
